Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged global telecom leaders to make technology and digital services more affordable and accessible, especially for developing nations in the Global South. Interacting with members of the GSMA Board at Seva Teerth ahead of the India Mobile Congress, he said inclusive digital growth depends on ensuring that innovation reaches the last mile.

Modi highlighted the transformative role of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), noting that discussions with world leaders have shown its potential to accelerate development across emerging economies. He described DPI as a “force multiplier” for the Global South.

Addressing concerns over cyber fraud and deepfake content, the Prime Minister called for technology‑driven safeguards and global standards to help users identify AI‑generated material. He also emphasised the need for international cooperation to build trust in digital ecosystems.

GSMA Board members praised India’s rapid expansion of 4G and 5G networks, its strong digital infrastructure, and its growing mobile manufacturing base. They expressed interest in collaborating with India on 5G, 6G, AI, cybersecurity, and satellite connectivity.

Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, and senior officials attended the meeting.
