External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between India and Georgia, with a focus on trade, connectivity, culture and regional developments.

The meeting took place as Jaishankar began a three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Sharing details of the meeting on X, Jaishankar said he was pleased to meet his Georgian counterpart. He noted that ties between the two countries have continued to expand, particularly in trade, tourism and education.

The two ministers explored opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation across business, connectivity, cultural exchanges and people-to-people relations. They also exchanged views on current regional developments, Jaishankar said.

Jaishankar Begins Three-Day UAE Visit

Jaishankar arrived in Abu Dhabi earlier on Wednesday, where he was received by UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy.

During his visit, the External Affairs Minister is scheduled to meet Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to review progress in the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

According to a statement issued by India's Ministry of External Affairs ahead of the visit, the discussions will focus on reviewing bilateral cooperation and developments in the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Jaishankar is also scheduled to participate in discussions at the second edition of the Raisina Middle East event in Abu Dhabi, which brings together participants to discuss regional and international issues.

Earlier Talks on Regional Cooperation

Last month, Jaishankar met Sheikh Abdullah and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The three leaders reviewed progress in trilateral cooperation across mutually agreed areas and discussed the situation in West Asia.

Jaishankar's meetings in Abu Dhabi come amid continued diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners on trade, connectivity and wider regional developments.
