Bridge across Dnipro river in Kyiv struck during Russian attack, mayor reports
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that the Northern Bridge over the Dnipro river was damaged in a Russian airstrike on Saturday, intensifying pressure on the capital’s infrastructure.
Emergency crews rushed to the site, suspending traffic between the east and west banks after the road surface and trolleybus cables were hit. No casualties were reported.
The attack follows repeated strikes on the Southern Bridge in recent days, which forced temporary closures of multiple crossings over the Dnipro. More than one‑third of Kyiv’s residents live on the left bank, while most workplaces and government offices are located on the right bank.
The strikes have revived memories of last winter’s bombardments, as Ukraine braces for another campaign targeting power facilities. Moscow has denied deliberately attacking civilians.
