Indian Railways has sanctioned ₹252 crore for implementing Kavach Version 4.0 across 607.7 route kilometres of the Lucknow Division under the North Eastern Railway zone.
The initiative will extend Kavach coverage to remaining sections of the division, reinforcing safety infrastructure and modernizing train‑protection systems.
Kavach, India’s indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) technology, prevents Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) and automatically applies brakes when required. It continuously monitors train movement to ensure safe operations.
This latest approval reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to expanding Kavach across its network, enhancing reliability and safety through home‑grown innovation.
The project underscores the government’s focus on “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, promoting indigenous technology for safer, smarter railway operations.
